ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Located in the heart of the city, the Real Alcazar is one of the oldest palaces still in use in the world. The palace has evolved through different stages over time, from the late 11th century to the present day so it is an enclosure that by its own, explains the whole Seville city.

The structure which makes up Royal Alcazar of Seville was founded in the Middle-Ages.

If you heard about Seville’s history you will for sure know that it was one of the most important ports in Spain, and it was the hub of it's economy.

The river would flow all over underneath the city’s grounds. Later on, the Abbadíes who were in charge of the city would add an Alcazar to the palace, previously built for the government.

Love at first sight

There’s no need to know all this information about this palace to fall in love with it. It’s the  Mudejar arquitecture, typical for Andalucia.

Aside from its architectural framework, other things that are inside of the Alcazar of Seville must not be forgotten: new uses of its spaces, the gardens, and the endless water, gushing forth from every corner. And all the individuals and groups who breathed life into the buildings at every moment and peopled the air that still blows from the Lion’s Gate to Puerta de la Alcoba, over the Tagarete creek, which today lies hidden under the landscape that witnessed the birth of the Alcazar eleven centuries ago.
